Vast Opportunities

This is a story of a boy who grew up in a fishing village in North Malaysia. His name is Chew Wah.He’s a smart boy and spent most of his holidays helping out his dad at the construction site. Parental expectations of Chew Wah were not very high. After all, a family that worried over 3 meals daily had many more important things to be concerned over. Chew Wah’s ambition of becoming a doctor, a pilot or an accountant seemed like a pipe dream.

It was the wrong timing when Chew Wah received an offer of a place at University. At that time, it was a tremendous accomplishment in the poor fishing village. But this feat required a sister’s sacrifice. She willingly quit school and travelled to Singapore alone to work as a factory operator by day and a waitress by night to earn enough money for Chew Wah’s term fees.

Both Chew Wah and his elder sister San San toiled and laboured day & night, one working hard; the other studying hard. Within 5 years, this pair of siblings achieved:
  • A scrawny and weak young engineer with a 16-hour average workday
  • A sickly elder sister with constant migraine
  • A huge study loan that seemed impossible to repay
  • A 13-year wreck of a car
  • A low cost, rented terrace which they shared with others

  • This unending routine was worrying. Then Chew Wah came across Elken. Elken Spirulina helped take away San San’s years-long migraine. It further increased their loyalty to Elken.

But Chew Wah faced an internal struggle. He yearned for a change but how could he trade his ‘professional’ status to become a direct selling distributor. Chew Wah chose Elken. Because he believed the Elken family could help him build a better future. San San also achieved many things at Elken. She joined her brother 6 months later.

Even though this is probably a very familiar story of a kampong boy’s struggle to success, but these kind of stories are repeated over and over again in Elken.

So that just maybe, you may have the chance to play a starring role in the next story.

Chee Sing Teik hails from Kota Marudu, a poor village in interior Sabah. As the second son in the family, he was very lively and cheerful, but this changed when his elder brother was killed in an accident.

Sing Teik became very withdrawn. He started taking care of his younger siblings. To help support the family, the hardworking Sing Teik always looked out for opportunities to improve their circumstances. Later, his outstanding performance as a secondary school art teacher won him a government scholarship for a degree in University Sains Malaysia.

Several years after graduation, he became a primary school headmaster. He met a former university mate who shared a health concept and some products with him. After taking them, Sing Teik’s health markedly improved. From then on, a great transformation started in his life. By sharing his experience with others, many were led to rediscover their health. From a reserved, quiet, and introverted artist cum headmaster, his countenance was transformed into a cheerful and confident entrepreneur.

Sing Teik said: “Figures have never appealed to me. I’m not concerned with remuneration or the business aspects. My only wish is to help my friends regain health. Somehow, my client base grew and developed into a sizeable network. When I realized that the Elken business is an entrepreneurial opportunity that could change people’s destiny, I made up my mind to quit my job and concentrate on this fulltime.”

His younger brother Sylvester, a budget-conscious JKR engineer, witnessed his transformation and decided to join his brother in this business. Today, apart from enjoying financial independence & uncommon freedom, the duo has also won a high regard among friends and relatives. “I really count my blessings for being a member of the Elken family, which has not only helped me and my brother regain physical wellbeing but also discover our true worth and purpose in life,” remarked Sing Teik.
